Ideas for Creating Low-fat Menus
|
Welcome to the Tasteful Menus website! We will feature ideas for healthy, low fat menus as well as ideas to help consumers and restaurants to make their menus more interesting. Summer Tips:Fruit salads are a great way to feel refreshed in the summer heat, and make a great addition to your menu. Just slice a cantelope, honeydew, watermelon, and add some strawberries, and seedless grapes. Canned pineapple also adds a nice touch. You can also add sliced bananas and apples, but sprinkle a little lemon juice over them first to prevent browning due to oxidation. Remember to refrigerate any left over fruit salad so that it stays fresh. Home-made potato salads are great, but are usually high in fat! To cut down on the fat, use low-fat mayo instead of the regular, and substitute plain, non-fat yogurt for half of the mayo that you would normally use. No one would be able to taste the difference, and you will save yourself a lot of calories and fat.
